Prevention & Wellness Resources

At Browning Public Schools, we are committed to the health, safety, and well-being of every student and staff member. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and national school health frameworks that support academic success and lifelong healthy habits.

Promoting Positive Mental Health

Good mental health helps students manage emotions, cope with stress, build relationships, and participate fully in school and life. Our strategies include:

  • Safe, supportive school climates
  • Access to caring adults and counselors
  • Social-emotional learning (SEL) activities
  • Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for prevention and early intervention Schools play an essential role in preventing mental health challenges and connecting students and families with resources.

Tip for Students & Families: Encourage open conversations about feelings, practice mindfulness or stress-reduction exercises at home/school, and reach out to school counselors when support is needed.

Physical Health & Healthy Habits

Healthy eating, physical activity, and rest are key parts of student wellness. Strategies we support include:

  • Daily physical activity and movement
  • Nutrition education and healthy school meals
  • Promoting adequate sleep and reduced screen time

These lifestyle habits support not only physical health, but emotional and cognitive well-being too.

Substance Misuse Prevention

We empower students with knowledge and skills to make healthy decisions regarding:
